Name: Myrtle's Folly Multi-colored Twisted Dahlia Flower Seeds
· Package: Professional Pack
· Quantity: 20 Seeds / Pack
· Zones: 1-11
· Germination rate: High
· These dinnerplate blooms are spectacular in color, texture, and stature!
It is hard to imagine a flower more eye-popping than this enormous burst of narrow, twisted, and vibrantly colored petals! 'Myrtle's Folly' is a cutflower beyond compare: every dinnerplate blossom is massive and an absolute bonfire of hot colors, from gold to peach to hot pink! The heavily lacinated (fimbriated) petals impart a very fine, fuzzy quality. These blooms are so huge and showy that they are competitive even in the A class!
Be sure to plant a stake with your tubers, because these blooms grow so huge and full that no stem could bear them without a little help! Pinching the first flower bud can encourage a bushier habit, and deadheading regularly can encourage rebloom.
Dahlia is a sun-lover, happiest in rich, well-drained, moist soil. It is hardy only through zone 9 in the north, so you may want to dig it up at season's end and store it indoors to replant in spring. It forms a tuber, and is easy to tuck away in a shoebox filled with clean kitty litter or vermiculite.
Like most Dahlias, Myrtle's Folly needs full sun (to afternoon shade in hot climates) and benefits from very fertile soil -- we recommend a nitrogen-rich liquid fertilizer once a week throughout June. Keep Fire Pot well-fed and watered, give it plenty of sun, and it will reward you with an abundance of early color that keeps coming until frost!
